Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Finance, Human Resource, or related degree; or combination of related work experience and education.


  • 5+ years working experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst
  • 3+ years agile methodology experience including agile coaching and adoption.
  • 1+ years of Human Resource and Financial industry knowledge

Position Summary:  The Product Owner will know what our internal and external customers want; and will then translate it into requirements that a technology team can understand and deliver. The product Owner will have a strong desire to bring real world solutions to business needs, using some of the latest industry technologies that our end users and customers will appreciate. This position will have a strong understand of how to bridge the worlds of business and technology. Working directly with a cross-functional project delivery team, the Product Owner will guide products from conception to launch. They will be working in a cross-functional project team that drives the definition and execution of a Human Resources and Finance product roadmap.   As a Product Owner, they will help shape the future of Blattner Energy’s products. 


Essential Job Functions

  1. Regularly collaborate with business end users, and subject matter experts to identify needed product enhancements, deficiencies, hurdles and challenges the department faces.  Identify possible solutions and analyze products, building out and maintaining roadmaps, work flows or defining enhancements to be delivered.
  2. Develop and maintain a prioritized list of enhancements/features based on impact/cost savings to end users, department and business.
  3. Develop, coordinate and ensure successful execution of product release/launch plan.
  4. Communicate needs and project status to project stakeholder.
  5. Test and validate functional specifications are being met during the testing phase of the process.
  6. Represent the "Voice of the End User" to IT and stakeholders, ensuring the final product meets the operational need of the end user.
  7. Helps promote the technical vision of Human Resources and Finance through communication with IT, business leaders and departments.
  8. Collect, analyze and summarize product information. Educate department on new or enhanced products.
  9. Work with IT to define project requirements, coordinate product end of life, upgrades and transitions to new products.
  10. Ensure product and process follows corporate and department policies and procedures, with an eye to enhancing such processes and policies.

Additional Job Functions

  1. Build budget proposals based on department needs and IT input.
  2. Lead prioritization meets where organizational benefits will determine priority.
  3. Meet regularly with other Department Product Owners to ensure new products or initiatives align with and can be fully utilized across all departments/enterprise.
  4. Perform other duties as assigned by manager
  5. Identifies opportunities for streamlining work and reducing waste in order to improve efficiency.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to quickly learn business processes, flows and functions
  • Detail orientated person that has facilitated agile planning sessions
  • Hands on knowledge of Agile methodology and previous experience defining requirements and acceptance criteria for large iterative initiatives
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements
  • In-depth knowledge of Agile process and principles 
  • Outstanding communication, presentation and leadership skills
  • Ability to work within a cross functional technical team

  • Occasional travel will be required for job site and business knowledge requirement gathering
  • To minimize impact to the business some weekend hours maybe required during project roll-outs.
