Education Requirements: A 2-year safety, business, or related degree; or equivalent combinates of education and on-the-job experience.

Experience Required: Three years DOT experience.

Position Summary: Ensures that Blattner follows all Federal and State DOT regulations. Including the following: DOT compliance, documentation, legal issues and DOT training.  Assists the project site teams with DOT related questions and collaborates toward viable solutions. Work with Operations personnel to provide driver feedback through a proactive, behavior-based approach to Fleet Safety.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Responsible for understanding, reviewing, and researching of DOT regulations.
  2. Monitors, measures and reports to management on DOT ratings and standards.
  3. Ensures Blattner Fleet is compliant with DOT regulations, including responding to managers and employees on DOT regulation questions.
  4. Ensures MCS150 DOT report and UCR (Uniform Carrier Registration) is current.
  5. Research and address legal challenges regarding DOT violations with the proper authorities.
  6. Review shipping contract documents for legal DOT compliance requirements.
  7. Attend conferences on DOT regulations, and seminars on current DOT litigation and regulations.
  8. Meet with HR Generalist regarding DQ files, CDL files and compliance with current DOT regulations.
  9. Collaborates with other departments build and foster a successful DOT and fleet safety program.
  10. Review and enforce EPA regulations and shipping of hazardous materials.
  11. Work with Operations personnel to provide driver feedback through a proactive, behavior-based approach to Fleet Safety.
  12. Travel to project sites to review DOT processes guide projects in meeting requirements and conduct DOT training.

Additional Job Functions

  1. Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
  2. Identifies opportunities to streamline work and reduce waste to improve efficiency.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Federal DOT regulations including DQ & CDL requirements.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Detail-oriented and good time management skills.
  • Strong employee relations skills.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality
