Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required.

Experience Required: 5+ years of experience in advising on complex labor relation matters including but not limited to negotiations, handling grievances, and National Labor Relations Board proceedings is required.  Previous construction industry experience preferred.

Position Summary: Provides expert knowledge and wide range of advisory services regarding heavy construction industry labor relation strategies to our organization across the United States. The successful candidate will have deep knowledge (subject matter expert) and prior experience in a heavy construction labor negotiation, National Labor Relations Board proceedings, trust fund, matters, prevailing wage information, grievances, arbitrations and other labor relation matters.  The individual must have strength in negotiations, arbitration and mediations, ability to facilitate conflict resolution and communicate effectively with outcomes that minimize risk, be well organized, self-motivated, quick-thinking, flexible, and able to juggle multiple and diverse responsibilities with an unwavering attention to detail. This is a demanding and fast-paced role that requires curiosity and initiative.


Essential Job Functions

  1. Serves as a lead labor relations advisor to the Business Development, Estimating, Operations, Payroll and Legal teams to provide labor relations strategy, direction, coaching and information.
  2. Communicates with identified construction locals and international representatives as dictated by overall labor relations strategy.
  3. Conducts research and investigation in requested areas to help inform bid strategies.
  4. Works with Senior Estimators to obtain likely union wages, benefits and working conditions for applicable bids and collaborates directly with Payroll Department to maintain database of active wage/benefit rates for applicable areas.
  5. Actively participates and facilitates appropriate discussions and resolution through labor negotiations with Estimating, Operations and Legal teams.
  6. Manages organization’s comprehensive library of collective bargaining agreements, Memorandum of Agreements, and PLA’s for applicable areas.
  7. Advises, educates and trains management, job site personnel and field employees on a wide-range of union-related matters, project-specific issues, labor law practices and procedures and current trends.
  8. Examines and provides advice on union grievances with a solid understanding of the National Labor Relations Act. Investigates, compiles, and prepares data and recommendations for use in grievance hearings, arbitration proceedings, labor/management initiatives and collective bargaining negotiations.
  9. Travels to jobsites and applicable union locations within the country.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Valid Driver’s license and acceptable driving record for the ability to travel as required.

  • Ability to be proactive and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
