 Experience:  Seven (7) years of experience in a construction safety leadership role. Electrical safety experience and CSP certification is preferred.

 Position Summary:  The Regional Safety Manager is a champion of the Blattner safety culture by traveling to project sites verify that our Blattner Safety Program and safe work plans are being followed.   Serves as a safety expert and consultant to the project site teams and communicates with Client safety professionals on the overall Blattner safety performance. Using data and real Blattner examples, the Regional Safety Manager assesses and coaches project leaders toward building a stronger safety culture.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Assesses Blattner safety culture and verifies that Blattner Safety Programs are followed, enforced, and consistent on projects to help ensure site teams are safe while delivering a quality product in an efficient manner.
  2. Acts as a technical expert identifying where work plans do not address safety and ensures the necessary changes occur by working directly with Operations, Learning and Development, the Lean Advantage Team and the Quality Department to share and develop work plans into content that demonstrates the safest methods or processes.
  3. Partners with site management in the technical training and development of leadership personnel in safety by possessing a clear understanding of how the company operates in accordance with the Blattner Safety Program.
  4. Communicates and advises site leadership and Client safety professionals on any current and potential jobsite exposures.
  5. Collaborates with Risk Management Data Analyst to develop tools identifying trends of potential project problem areas.
  6. Serves as a consultant to site teams on the technical aspects related to safety to determine the best outcome for the benefit of the company. Must be willing to share personal knowledge and experiences.
  7. Leads in the recruitment of leadership personnel by participating in the interview and hiring process. Manages the scheduling and placement of site safety resources.
  8. Supports the adherence to all company policies, corporate values, and state and federal regulations.
  9. Actively supports the occupational development of Site Safety Coordinators by leading them up and to the right.
  10. Supports our goal to build industry leading safe worksites by learning and identifying latest safety equipment, tools and practice trends in the market.
  11. Supports site leadership with ideas, methods and processes on work and resources, and assists with resolving project problem areas as needed.

 

Additional Job Functions             

  1. Works directly with the Project Manager, Site Manager, Trade Superintendent and Site Safety Coordinator on monitoring safe work plans and taking necessary corrective action.
  2. Collaborates with Site Safety Coordinators, Site Managers and Project Managers to establish the site-specific safety manual, Safety Program, Electrical Safety and safe work plans.
  3. Communicates and collaborates with Client safety professionals to learn new market safety trends, Client expectations and to share the Blattner Safety Program and initiatives.
  4. Identify opportunities for streamlining work and reducing waste in order to improve efficiency.
  5. Collaborates, coordinates and performs special assignments as directed by the Vice President, Risk Management.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication and people skills, as well as interpersonal and collaborative skills at all levels within the organization and clients.
  • Must be able to articulate clear and concise messages including translating technical material when necessary.
  • Possesses a clear understanding of applicable OSHA regulation for construction projects.
  • Must possess the leadership skills and experience necessary to train and develop employees on Safe Work Plans, processes and methods.
  • Must have a complete understanding of root cause analysis, incident reporting, injury management, safety data and reporting on all related work.
  • Acts as a leader in a group of peers and/or subordinates, and must be capable of orchestrating necessary conversations, meetings, presentations, etc.
  • Competent with computer programs (MS Office) and analytical tools.
  • Ability to maintain an acceptable driving record.  
  • Extensive travel required.
