Education Requirements:  A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related discipline is required.

 

Experience: Three to five years of related HR experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the responsibilities of the position.

Position Summary: Collects, analyzes, and maintains compensation data to ensure the organization can attract and retain talent. Supports the design, review, implementation, and administration of compensation programs to ensure policies and practices are consistent, competitive and comply with state and federal regulations.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Benchmarks jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position.
  2. Prepares and maintains job classifications and salary scales and assesses jobs to determine classifications.
  3. Serves as project lead for annual merit cycles with support from the Benefits and Compensation Manager as well as the Compensation Committee.
  4. Participates in compensation surveys on a timely basis to ensure Blattner has the most reliable data available for marketing new positions within the Company.
  5. Reviews job classifications based on scope of responsibility to ensure FLSA compliance.
  6. Researches and analyzes compensation data to ensure Blattner is positioned with competitive wage ranges.  Recommends plan changes to management.
  7. Administers the maintenance and storage of employee compensation records.
  8. Accurately communicates compensation to employees, answer questions, and assists employees/managers in resolving compensation related matters.
  9. Distributes MN’s Wage Theft Prevention notice to employees and other benefit or compensation related state specific forms as required by law.
  10. Works with Benefits/Compensation Administrator to develop annual Total Benefits/Compensation Statements.
  11. Collaborates with the Talent Acquisition team to create, analyze and maintain job descriptions to align with industry standards and departmental goals for each position in the organization; Ensures descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed.
  12. Serves as a backup to the Benefits and Compensation Manager for the 401k plan reporting, completing yearly non-discrimination testing, validating data both internally and externally, audits, maintenance of plan file documents and 5500 filings.
  13. Assists with benefit projects as required.

Additional Job Functions

  1. Identifies opportunities for streamlining work and reducing waste in order to improve efficiency.
  2. Works with Sr. HRIS Analyst and IT to develop and maintain reports for benefit and compensation reporting purposes.
  3. Assists with special projects related to Compensation and Benefits as needed.
  4. Assists with new software, upgrades and testing of employee data and reports.
  5. Perform other duties per supervisor’s discretion.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong mathematical/quantitative reasoning skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills. (Bilingual: English/Spanish is a plus.)
  • Experience and strong knowledge of HRIS system and in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, with proven ability to handle large sets of data.
  • Knowledge of salary structures, market pricing, compensation modeling, and pay practices.
  • Ability to work with and handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to prioritize, work independently and work within a deadline.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary.
